Subject: [CR]Front Section of Fender for Frejus Needed

Ralph at Via Bicycles posted that he has a Legnano bit for sale, the sho rt nose piece from the fender set for a chartreuse Legnano. I need the s ame piece in plain alloy to complete a similar set for Frejus. I wouldn' t want to strip that original Legnano paint, though I expect what's unde rneath is identical. Anyone have one to sell--or trade--that is unpainte d? I have two examples of the Frejus marque with Fenders, but only one o f those short front sections. No Pergolizzi, I didn't lose anything from your ex-Frejus; only acquired
more! Needed something that wasn't quite so clean so I could brave the occasional squall if need be. I bought the fenders through eBay, asked the seller to look around in ca se the short section were floating around somewhere else in the attic, b ut I could not quite get him to grasp that anything was missing from the
fenders. It certainly is inconvenient, decades on, that these front fenders were made in two sections. I believe I read the logic behind the design in th is forum a few years back, but it escapes me at the moment. For those wh o haven't seen this, the fenders--and I believe Cinelli were much the sa me--have a separate tip, about 5 or 6 inches long, that is separable fro m the rest of the front fender. Without this tip section, the fenders en d bluntly under your headset / headtube / front brake area. The fenders are a bit sculpted, so making a decent-looking substitute out of, say, t he excellent Velo Orange fenders would not be too viable (no pun on Via intended, ha ha).... Cheers, and thanks, Tom Ward, Brooklyn, NY [11218] USA
