I just got back from looking at a '72 Mercier for sale in Berkeley. The guy selling it is the original owner--purchased it in '72. The frame is 531 tubing. Amazingly, it has virtually all the original stuff on it, although he repainted it (not as it was originally) and replaced the cables and housings. Simplex, Stronglight (93, I think), Mafac Racer brakes, Ideale 80 saddle, Normandy hubs, AVA sew-up rims, etc. The chrome is so so and the aluminum stuff is very dull. He's asking $300 and I thought maybe someone on the list might be interested. I'm not getting anything out of this--I'd just like to see it go to someone who will appreciate and possibly restore it.
