Try a good local shoe store where Birkenstocks are sold. Barge cement is the classic repair goop for Birkenstocks.

I'm not planning to completely recover, just glue back the cover where it has come loose around the edges, including one of the sides, which is very concave as you point out. Barge Cement has had the most recommendation, so I'll try to find out where to buy it.
