To say that there comes a point when the collection own's the collector is absolutely right. You reach that point when you have stuff that you think so valuable that your life is spoilt by restrictions to your freedom of movement dictated by the fear of having your collectables polished off (Brit idiom for "stolen") whilst left unguarded. The solution is to give away all that is ruining your life. It happens I run a small concern specialized in freeing people of their material bondage. You may contact me offlist if you need valuable bikes removed.

Group -- With regard to this thread -- Emanual Lowi submitted a blurb abo ut a year ago that pretty well covers the situation, for me, anyway. It st arts : "And then there is that hazy yet dangerously life-altering moment w hen the collector who owns the collection becomes the collector owned by th e collection" --- and goes on from there.

Perhaps it would be appropriate for the benefit for those of us who are rea lly sick, to have Emanuel submit that to us about once a year? On the oth er hand, it might dry up the market to sell all of these little treasures, and eliminate the fun of finding and buying them?
