They were talking about the early 90's bonded Treks mostly with carbon tubes and aluminum lugs like the 2300 with above seatstay tabs before they starting using seatclamps- a separate piece from the frame that would tighten the seat tube. They would break. Every frame I ever sold that this happened to, Trek repaired under warranty, including a repaint and return within as few as 10 days. I took care of all my personal customers in my store at the time when they failed.

Should be no problem with your 720. If you get John Thompson to weigh in on the subject, then you should have an expert opinion.
