I think that price range is where the market is heading for British bikes. It used to be common that non-original complete bikes could be had for around $500, but that price is going up. Further, a bike from a recognized make like Bob Jackson would command a bit more attention. I was recently watching a Mercian in my less desirable big size, with mid level japanese components, and it topped $700 dollars.

I would suspect that the rising prices are being driven by the rising british pound. It's one thing to pay $700 for an old british bike when you could get a new frame from the same company for $800-900. Heck, you might as well buy a new one. But now new frames alone are up around $1500, and you have to expect older frames to increase in price as potential new frame buyers switch to old frames.
One thing, if it's a thrift store/resale shop, they might dicker on the price a bit. But for a good Jackson frame with good parts, $750 isn't outrageous.
