Does Major Taylor's mile on a track from a standing start of 141.4 still hold up as a record? I am reading the new Taylor biography that just came out in 2008 and was wondering. If it had been broken, I can't imagine his record could have been broken by much, and I couldn't find anything which tops his record in google. Amazing what is possible without carbon fiber!
