I just wanted to say that my recent trip to Austin was fantastic. I was looking for a bike to borrow while there and ended up finding a nice Miyata for not alot of money and just bought it.
The real reason for this post is to thank two guys who stepped up without even knowing me to offer up their bikes.
The first is Jeff Piwonka who gladly offered up his Gazelle, although it was just a bit small for me. The second was Mike Spess who, even though he went out of town, made sure that a bike was behind his garage and ready for me to ride the day I arrived. Although I had already bought the other bike, I went by his house to move the bike to a more secure place and spoke to Mike's wife, who could not have been nicer. She told me that she would put the bike back in the garage for me. Mike also took the time to tell me what was going on in Austin and where the bike shops were before he left town.
The whole point of this post is to let everyone know that it is certainly a pleasure to be a part of something that is a real resource and a family (of sorts) for cyclists everywhere.
Jeff & Mike, I really can't thank you enough and I am ready to return the favor if you EVER need it. That goes for anyone else who happens to be in the area. Paying it forward and glad to be a part of the bikelist!
