So, the guy with the Pro sent me four photos of the bike which I've put on Wool Jersey for anyone who wants to peruse. I haven't seen it in the flesh. http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/beandk/raleighpro/ He says it's 24 1/2" and he's annoyed by "tire kickers." (If he wants to sell it no-Qs-asked, I could tell him how that can be done, but it doesn't involve high pricing!)

My question: Remember the backwards threaded Hetchins? I got a Phil BB from ebay relatively cheap [because the seller couldn't ID the threading of the rings]. He thought it was Italian but it's English. Of course, I need to reverse the cartridge relative to the rings. One of them popped right off with mere finger pressure. The other is loose but won't come off. How should I get it off?

I thought that putting the ring in a vise with soft jaws (rags or wood blocks) just tight enough to hold on to it and carefully tapping the outer ring of the bearing between the splines [with a skinny drift] would probably do it without damage. Am I missing something?

Thanks.
