Say it's not so! Surely some misguided young racer wouldn't purposefully chose those inferior old box section rims over the clearly superior performance advantages of new, high-tech deep section carbon fiber rims? Obviously the team must have run out of "good" wheels, and one of the water carriers got stuck with these. Poor fellow. I'm sure the rest of the peloton made fun of him. Sorry - couldn't resist...
