Mark and Jerry,
Why don't you just contact the shop? http://www.bicyclestable.com/
If they are the ebay seller (or if the seller is any commercial bike shop), then I don't see what the big deal is. I'd rather pay by credit card to a commercial seller than pay through Paypal. I think the ebay warning is designed to foil those who attempt to close the transaction without paying ebay fees; i.e. accept payment from you but report the transaction as not completed to ebay. I don't think you have a reason to suspect that if the seller has simply asked you to pay by credit card directly to the shop or over the phone rather than by using Paypal.

Hi Jerry and Listers,
Yesterday I won the bid on a Campy Super Record front derailleur form bicyclestable, and was sent an email requesting me to phone with my credit card number. The message was on an eBay form that began with an eBay message, "Do not respond if requested to complete the transaction outside of eBay, or something like that. So I didn't. I then reported the episode to eBay with a copy of the message from bicyclestable. So far I haven't received reply from eBay. Bicyclestable does not respond to email messages.
Please keep us posted.
