I have several bikes and frames which I think will be of interest to CR
members - most are here before going to Ebay; there\u2019s also a frame and
bike that have already been on Ebay and are here at a reduced price.
Other items can normally go in a frame/bike box - even those you buy
from me on Ebay. I can deliver frames or bikes free of charge to Argos
Cycles for repainting - Argos are in my opinion the best painters in the
UK these days. Please see

EXCEL REX 23.5in c1948 Fancy lugs
Offered for sale is a 23.5in (centre BB to top of top tube) c1948 Excel
Rex frame. It has a 22.5in top tube (ctc) and is 116mm across the rear
ends. Excel the name used by Dan Genner was an old established builder
(the earliest reference I can find is about 1925) in south London and in
post-war years built a number of fancy lugged frames. This frame was
originally supplied through their agents in Brighton whose transfer is
on the seat tube. The lugs are quite fancy with an original twist. 145

GRANDIS OVERMAX c1990 55cm Beautiful Columbus Max tubing
Offered for sale is a classic 55cm ctc c1990 Grandis Overmax road bike
with a 54.5cm ctc top tube. This bike is in original condition. The
frame details are simply gorgeous - look at the stunning curved seatstay
and chainstay bridges, the engraved fork crown and the head tube
engraved with the Grandis name. And the long spearpoint extension from
the bottom bracket shell onto the down tube. The standard of workmanship
is really exceptional - the the lugs have wonderful crisp edges with
lovely precise cutouts. It is built from Columbus Max tubing. It also
rides absolutely wonderfully - I would have kept this bike myself save
that it is about 2cm too long in the seat tube for me.
Grandis are very underrated; the standard of workmanship is at least as
good as any of the better known Italian makers such as Colnago or De
Rosa. They are an old established (since 1965) family firm based in
Verona. The current range and details of the company can be found at

rear hub). The handlebar stem, cranks and seatpin are all beautifully
pantographed. The seatpin is the twin bolt Super Record and the cranks
are dated 1978 on the LH one and 1977 on the RH one. The rear Super
Record derailleur is dated 1978. This must be on of the first of the

RALEIGH ILKESTON 22in c1978 Rare special with mudguard clearance
Offered for sale is a 22in (centre BB to top of top tube) 1978 Raleigh
Ilkeston built (frame number SB2290) road frame with mudguard clearances
(at the front brake drop is 55mm, rear about 49mm which is enough for
23mm tyre and guards). It is built from from Reynolds 531 double butted
tubing and takes a 27.2mm seatpost. It is not widely known that Raleigh
SBDU at Ilkeston would build special frames to order. This must be one
for I have never seen another SBDU frame with guard clearances and
dropouts with mudguard mounts. Top tube length is 22in ctc and rear
dropout width is 126mm. The frame really needs refinishing and would
look stunning done in Team colours or perhaps one of the more exclusive
blue and black or gold finishes. 245 GBP (approx $480)
