Taking mr. Merckx height into consideration (1.88?), I wouldn't be surprised if he used 175 cranks in road races, and 180s for TT's and the Hour attempt; those cranks in the pic that george took, look really long!. Just my opinion of course: I use 175s, and am 1.84 in height. Just as an aside, at the Koln IFMA of 1988, I bumped into mr. Merkcx (back to back!) and he is indeed a bit taller than i am. And considerably more stout at that time ..
