Subject: [CR]I Want / I Need ... I'll Trade / I'll Purchase Outright

The weather is finally showing intermittent signs of better accommodating those of us hardy souls who inhabit the "Frozen Flatlands" and its immediate surrounds such that I find myself interested in renewing efforts to acquire a few niggling bits and pieces in order to properly complete some of my vintage projects. To that end, I am prevailing upon the vast collective resources of the CR List to help in my quest for the following (...listed in no particular order of importance):

01) Hi-E 240 lightweight rim - 215 grams - 2024T4 aluminum alloy sheet doubled on the inside and attached with hollow rivet eyelets - 20 mm section - box profile - smooth / non-machined braking surfaces - 700c tubular - drilled for Presta valves - 32h - model 240 . I have a few really nice Hi-E hubs in my parts stores including a 36h model 213 high-low flange rear hub that I would like to pair with a 32h model 202 small flange microlight front hub for an upcoming vintage time trial project bike . BUT . the only remaining NOS Hi-E rims I have left on hand feature 36h drillings, hence my desire to find a similarly NOS 32h version of Harlan's model 240 lightweight tubular rim so as to match things up properly.

02) Hi-E rear hub spacing adaptors / end caps - aluminum alloy - 11.45 mm non-drive side end caps (quantity 3) / 22.9 mm drive side end cap (quantity 1) / 25.9 mm drive side end cap (quantity 1) / 28.6 mm drive side end cap (quantity 1) . As I stated above, I have a few Hi-E hubs in stock, but all of them have a an existing 120 mm OLD rear spacing using a 22.9 mm drive side end cap in combination with an 11.45 mm cap on the non-drive side. According to Harlan's technical notes, he simply used ".an eigth (sp) inch longer adapter on the right side" in order to achieve proper spacing for a six speed freewheel as opposed to a standard five speed, and that would translate into using either a 25.9 mm end cap on that drive side to produce a an overall 123 mm OLD spacing or a 28.6 mm cap to affect instead a 126 mm OLD spacing. With the aforementioned combination of sizes I seek, I should be able to build one and only one each version of 120 mm, 123 mm, and 126 mm OLD rear hubs to accommodate either a five or six speed freewheel. Yes, I am only too well aware of the fact that there is another CR List member who shall remain unnamed herein who supposedly has a number of spacers that he received from Harlan prior to his closing up shop - but over the course of a year and a half involving numerous emails wherein said person has repeatedly SAID that he was going to send a few out my way, none have ever once appeared in my mailbox - and I grow tired of making a pest of myself (.as I am sure he is tired of my pleadings as well). Hence my appeal to a much larger audience before ultimately resigning myself to having to custom machine my own blasted versions of these spacers from aluminum billet stock.

03) Zefal frame pump gasket / piston washer - 19 mm sizing . I am looking for a few piston washers suitable for use within Zefal Competition style frame pumps (...we're talking about the older non-tapered straight aluminum barrel version of the venerable Zefal, which was originally offered in an oh so very French tri-color scheme and later in solid colors, and NOT the newer HP or HPX editions that have a "stepped" barrel and use a much more common and easy to find 18 mm piston washer). I find myself in possession of several NOS versions of the early tri-color Competition pump where each has had its respective piston washer removed - effectively rendering them nice to look at as decorative eye-candy, but entirely non-functional. I made a public plea to the CR List regarding these very bits back in March of 2006, and I am STILL waiting to find some (.Brian Booth up in Toronto did have these washers, but they went up in smoke as the result of a house fire wherein he lost quite a few vintage parts, and more importantly, was displaced from his home while a portion of it was rebuilt).

04) Christophe "Z" - leather straps (Tan) - post 1975 printed not embossed logo (Silver) - alloy buckles, rivets, pinch rollers - model Competition Z 526 . I sold two NOS pair of these from my personal stock to Yanko Dambouev from the CR List back in 2006 so that he might properly finish off that Peugeot PY10CP he brought over from Paris, and as such, I simply seek to replenish my own inventory (.although I still have a few more of these NOS/NIP, so I am not in any way desperate here - just always on the lookout).

05) Atom 77 Compact freewheel - 14/20 (14-15-16-17-18-20) narrow 6 speed - 22 mm splined removal interface - 1.370" x 24 TPI English thread - 3x3 stepped body - three notch slip fit cogs / dual threaded locking cogs - model 77 Compact . Actually, I have several NOS Atom 77 Compact freewheels set aside for use in conjunction with my 1977 Mondia Prestige, but none of them have this particular cog configuration nor can I build a single version of same from all those I have (.my biggest problem in this respect is that Atom never sold the particular cog combination I seek, and only one of their standard offerings had a 14 tooth small cog). So, I suppose that I really only need to find the appropriate individual cogs irrespective of the freewheel body itself as those will allow me to construct what I am looking to build up. Nickel silver plating finish is GREATLY preferred as opposed to the black phosphate finish.

06) O.M.A.S. / E.T.A. / F.T. / Arnold alloy stem hardware - M7 x 135 mm SHCS stem bolt and cone / M7 x 30 mm SHCS front clamp bolt and knurled nut . The key here is the odd 7mm sizings apropos a 1970's vintage 3ttt record stem as most of these "hop-up" kits use an 8 mm platform in common with Cinelli stems and the like. I readily admit that in the past I have used 8mm aluminum stem bolts and corresponding cones in lieu of the original 3ttt odd sized 7 mm steel combination, but to do so necessitates that the quill of the corresponding 3ttt stem itself be line bored to an ever so slightly oversized specification.

07) Weyless pedals - quill style - chrome plated Cr/Mo axles - one-piece machined aluminum alloy bodies - black anodized replaceable / interchangeable aluminum alloy cages (I seek road style cages, specifically) - precision stainless steel annular sealed bearings - 9/16" x 20 TPI thread - 6 mm hex mounting through backside of the crank arms - model W-PR . I am SERIOUSLY looking for an NOS set of these pedals for use on my 1977 Exxon Graftek G-1. I have two pair of used Weyless pedals, one couple of which are still in rather nice condition, and from those I may yet be able to reconstruct a singular set that might be able to pass for new once again. But for the time and monies I am going to have to spend in having their axles re-chromed, replacing the bearings, melting down some aluminum to fill in a few rough spots on the pedal cages themselves and then spending hours of time working them over with a jewelers file before bead blasting those cages to get the proper finish prior to re-anodizing, as well as similarly bead blasting the bare alloy bodies to achieve a proper satin finish while protecting their corner edges and bearing races, I think that I would be better served to just buy a truly new and unused pair - IF AND WHEN I EVER MANAGE TO FIND A SET THAT SOMEONE WILL PART WITH !!!! The only NOS pair I have located over the course of the last fourteen months turned out to be "unobtainium" as the owner ultimately turned down my rather substantial cash offer PLUS one of my used Weyless pedal sets (.arrgh).

08) Teledyne Linair bottom bracket spindle - titanium composition with steel bearing surface - square taper - 112 mm overall length with 5 mm drive side asymmetrical offset . This can be either a new or used part so long as it is in a functionally good state. While I have NOS/NIB complete titanium bottom bracket assemblies from the likes of Phil Wood (.modern), Campagnolo, O.M.A.S., Stronglight (.their 650 Titane being my pick for the best from the vintage era), and Zeus, I have never once had one which made use of the Teledyne titanium spindle and I figure that my current 1975 Crescent Pepita 320 pseudo weight weenie project bike would be the perfect opportunity to employ same. If I cannot find one prior to build up, I will proceed with the existing stainless steel rifled spindle that belongs with the Campy NR assembly and then swap if out at a later date whenever I do manage to acquire a Teledyne Linair example.

09) 3ttt Record Competizione Superleggero handlebars - 1974 to 1979 edition engraved logo - thin wall aluminum alloy - Gimondi profile bar bend - 26.0 mm Italian clamp sizing - 44 cm O-t-O / 127 mm reach / 165 mm drop - model Superleggero . Must be NOS or in near perfect condition from the brake lever location up. I already have a used set of these with an unblemished center section for my 1975 Crescent project assuming I go with a traditional wrap job . BUT . I would prefer to tape up the bars on this bike in a track / time trial half wrap style and the bars I currently have are simply not nice enough from the middle of the drops up and around their shoulders to warrant that type of exposure. The key here is finding a nice example that has not only a Gimondi profile but also measures a rather uncommon 44 cm O-t-O (...this sizing number will have been stamped into the middle of the handlebars themselves) as these were absolutely the widest bars 3ttt offered prior to the 1980's.

10) Weinmann brake cable hangers for use with center pull brakes - chrome plated steel bodies with alloy barrel adjuster bits - headset mounted front hanger (...to accommodate an English / Italian style keyway - model 1252-1256) - seat post binder bolt mounted rear hanger (model 1261-1256) - integral quick release mechanisms . The key here is the presence of the integrated QR mechanisms as paired with early 1970's vintage Vainqueur 999 center pull calipers or as found in conjunction with MAFAC Racer calipers fitted to Mondia bicycles from that same era. Again, these would be used for my 1975 Crescent Pepita 320 in preference to those functionally similar pieces that I currently have on hand but which either do not have an integral quick release capability (.proper Weinmann parts - models 1252 and 1261 respectively) or which are of Japanese origin (.otherwise nice Shimano items with QRs) and therefore strike me as being slightly out of place on this otherwise entirely Euro bike.

For anyone having one or more of the aforementioned items that they would be willing to part with either in trade or as an outright sale, I ask that you PLEASE (...as in "pretty please, with sugar on top") contact me directly and "OFF LIST".
