Oh crap.
I did some work for the Hall of Fame about 5 years ago, helping to improve their situation. At that time, the HoF was on display in a large storefront in a strip mall. Quite a shame.
Looks like it's gone downhill from there.
We then suggested that the HoF find a permanent location, ideally colocated at a velodrome. There are a few around the US; importantly we proposed that a new velodrome be established in the northeast, where the demographics would support the facility.
That plan never grew any legs, obviously.
Perhaps an alternate plan should be explored...Boston is a major mecca of small specialty manufacturers (cycling and many others) and home to a lot of history. I could see the HoF colocate with the Children's Museum or perhaps reside as a permanent exhibit at the Science Museum.
Boston is a big cycling town, and several well-heeled organizations might be interested in helping, if they knew of the need. I'm thinking of the Red Sox organization, which is a presenting sponsor of the largest athletic fundraising event in the world (the Pan Mass Challenge), and the Kraft Organization (New England Patriots and the Revolution soccer teams). Both of these organizations field good sized teams of riders for the Pan Mass Challenge, with active participation of the executives.
