Dear list,
I recently purchased an ot bike with wooden rims. It was, however, mos tly used on the track. I inferred this both from the bike's condition and from the fact that the spokes were wire soldered. Ok, here's the situati on. While riding, the front wheel occasionally makes a click. I think t hat it is coming from a spoke --or it might be the tubular tire settling it self somewhat. That's the question: i.e., I'm not sure of the exact prob lem. So, I was wondering if any of the gurus here who have experience wi th wooden rims have any suggestions.
In my opinion, it is not a rim issue. However, I'd hate to ruin them. I would also prefer to keep the soldered spoke arrangement --though, if they're the problem, I will replace them --which presents a new set of pr oblems and decisions.
At any rate, thanks for your attention; and I'd appreciate any suggesti ons concerning this specific issue and care of wooden rims in general.
thanks in advance,
Steve James
