Subject: [CR]Early Lugged Lambert/Viking

Just bought this Viking-badged early Lambert:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

This is a first generation Lambert, with lugged frame, conventional threaded BB and tapered crank axle, as opposed to the later Lambert/Viscount/Yamaha bikes with lugless frames, pressed in BB's and taperless axles.

These were sold branded a Lambert, Reg Harris or Viking.

Can anyone, perhaps the UK members, explain the connection between Viking and Lambert? Supposedly the original Viking operation closed in 1967. Lambert might just have bought the name, but there were reports In The Day that the early Lamberts we built in a former Viking facility. Or at least some US dealers at the time were told such a story. Could Lambert have acquired assets aside from just the name? Were there any Viking managers/employees who later worked for Lambert?
