Bad idea, Csuka's "endorsement" notwithstanding. It will work as a last resort, but it truly will be the last freewheel you ever put on that hub.

It will certainly ruin the threads on an aluminum hub, and probably even those on a steel hub. The diameter difference is less than English-Italian, so not particularly worrisome. The pitch difference is what worries me; at least English and Italian are the same.

I have heard of many people using BSC freewheels on FR hubs, with a bit of Teflon tape to take up the difference. Ernest Csuka of Cycles Alex Singer even did it on his tandem!

I haven't tried it... but I eventually may have to do so myself.
