John Wilson responds:

The '76 Schwinn Superior came with a Schwinn GT-300 rear derailleur, a rebadged Shimano Crane (Shimano Dura Ace).

See Bob Hufford (sp?) site at http://www.geocities.com/sldatabook/cover.html

The Crane fits fine with no adapter. I have a '78 Superior frame, also in black with the characteristic red primer showing

in many places, and also with the Huret dropouts. The databook lists a Suntour VG-T for that year. These are not the "baby Paramounts" but the very nicely fillet brazed frames which include the Sports Tourer model.
