Hello Listmembers,

I was given a Stella which I believe to be either a late '70 or early '71. I do not know the model, but the build was as follows:

Campagnolo seatpost, derailleurs and shifters. Nervar cranks. Lyotard Berthet pedals. Weinmann 999 Vainqueur Brakes. Huret cable clips. SR stem TTT (?) bars

The frame is in fair to good condition. It's silver with chrome socks. It has no dents; however, it was well used and has the requisite scratches, rust spots, and flaking of the chrome in spots. The decals are good; especially the foil seat tube decal. The French Columbus tubing decal is flaking, but still very readable. Looks like it will clean up fairly well.

The bike was given to my friend's father in the early '70s. The good doctor then proceeded to affix a Los Altos bicycle license sticker to the seat tube and have some kind of hokey numeric ID engraved in the cranks. The etching is hard to see, but it's there. I think there might be a matching etching on the BB of the frame. You could say you have a matching numbers Stella ;^) I recall seeing him ride it with flat bars installed. It had a Brooks seat, which was lost to the ages. It's been in my friend's attic for a good 25 years.

Well, the bike was way too large for me, so I've removed what I want (sorry, I'm keeping the Campy for another build) and I will sell the frameset with Nervar cranks, headset, stem, bars and brakes for $150.00 plus shipping in the CONUS. If no one is interested, it's off to the 'Bay....no, no, no, not the San Francisco Bay! My wife just left for a trip up North with my digital camera, so photos will have to wait until Tuesday. Will post to my Wool Jersey album then.
