Hope this isn't considered an attaboy, but I bought one of Norm's frames offered to the list a couple of weeks ago, a 1970 Crescent Pepita in the signature orange. Always wanted one of these since I drooled over those Crescent ads In The Day, with the blond, long-legged Sewdish models. And the bikes were pretty nice, too.
Received the bike Thursday, nicely packed. Definitely not a concourse piece, but a long time winter rider just as Norm had represented it. So it has lots of little scrapes and scratches, but no structural issues. And a dent in the top tube Norm had gone to great lengths to mention is barely large enough to even call a dent. So for $175, I've recaptured a little slice of my youth, which considering what some guys spend pursuing that end, is a hell of a bargain.
I kind of wonder what those girls from the Crescent add look like today. They may not have held up as well as the bikes, although I rather like to imagine that they have, unlike me.
