Subject: [CR]Mafac Spare Parts & the significance of washer thickness

Mafac Racer calipers typically used a set of red plastic bushings in the pivots of the caliper arms: one side had a flat washer and the other side had a flanged sleeve.

Early Mafac Dural Forge brakes had a brass bushing press-fit in the pivot and thin brass washers on each side of the caliper pivot hole.

Is there a source for these plastic or brass washers? Any alternatives?

I ask because my little braze-on c.p. brake stud project "enlightened" me about the importance of those washers.

i.e. the length of the stud was just long enough to lock the nut while enabling the caliper arms to rotate freely. without the washers there is too much play ... with thick home-made washers the arms lock
