that 58* stem is a pretty aggressive drop if it's the one i'm thinking it is. just a bit more drop than the cinelli 2a stems.

i don't think it's the bars. i think it's the change in riding position and you are feeling it in your palms because there's more pressure there now. that stem is making a difference.

i used to like the track bend bars but i ride my track bike so much that it has started to take it's toll on my wrists. i'm going to put some model 66 bars on it and also rid the road bikes of the model 65 bar...

you could try raising the stem up some...just adhere to the limits. you could also try a little thicker bartape (or some tape if the tops are bare), maybe some vinyl or a layer of cloth (or two)...

also, if you take a close look at the amount of seatpost guys used to ride then i think you will see why the drop stem was advantageous when they were popular.
