Subject: [CR]Columbus Peugeot redux

Thank you to the many CR memebers for the help in identifying this Peugeot frame with Columbus fork. I usually do not interest myself with su ch "new" bikes, and know little about them.    I now have a second question. Should I restore the braze-ons and bui ld up the Peugeot frame as a complete original rider or mod it?  My mod plans were initially to restore braze-ons. Additionally I thought to add braze-ons for cantilever brakes. I then looked at Ian Hibell's bike s and it seems he traveled heavily loaded and used side pull brakes until r ecently. the term recently is up for grabs with Mr. Hibell.  He covers ab out a 40 year long distance unsupported riding period. This would simplify a return to original build type. I also thought to add rack, generator, spa re spoke, etc. braze-ons. The purpose would be for a fast touring bike. G ood idea, or not?     My second thought is now to return my Sears/Puch, currently set u p as a single (As a side note, it is now a pleasing dark blue instead of ab omination yellow) to an original style with Japanese components. I would th en add only two top tube brake cable braze-ons to the Peugeot and build the Peugeot as a single. It currently has only the derailleur ear left fro m original brazing add-ons. What say the sages of the CR ?

happy trails,
