Hi Al,

Well this is the similar sort of situation I faced and the reality is that British bikes were open to all sorts of combinations - it was a truly eclectic time. That is the true joy of building a bike of that era. Different parts were of course more desirable - and you have to consider if you want to have a traditional British build (Williams, Chater Lea, BSA, Brampton, B & W, GB etc.) which was probably more likely for a Hetchins or a Continental build (Durax, Stronglight, Gnutti, Lyotard, Simplex, etc.). The best recommendation I can make is to check out the reader's bikes on http://www.Classiclightweights.co.uk and see what parts have been sourced for those within the late-40s early-50s time frame.

Have fun,

Paul.
