Subject: [CR]Touchup paint advice sought

My 69 Paramount has a lot of chips out of the paint and I want to touch them up. I have a spray can of the correct Schwinn color. My question is: Would it be better to let the propellant out of the can (by turning upside down and depressing the valve), cut it open and decant; and brush the paint on the sanded and primed spots. Or just spray with extensive masking?

There's not much paint in one of those little cans, of course, and it won't be easy to find any more of it. I don't want to repaint overall because I like the old dealer decal and the pinstriping.
