\r?\n> Hi, I was out today riding on my Crescent from around 1950,

\r?\n> so I took

\r?\n> some pictures of it. It is not a fancy bike. It is built in

\r?\n> lug less

\r?\n> chrome molybdenum steel and has simplex gears, but all the

\r?\n> bearings are

\r?\n> excellent, so it still offers a nice ride after almost 60

\r?\n> years.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> The bike is essential of the same type which The Swedish

\r?\n> rider Harry

\r?\n> Snell used when he won the World championship in Holland

\r?\n> 1948, direct

\r?\n> after that Crescent labelled their bikes with the word

\r?\n> "

\r?\n> Världsmästarcykeln" = The world champion bike. I

\r?\n> don't know why

\r?\n> Crescent waited up to that time to label their bike in that

\r?\n> way. They

\r?\n> have had success before, the Danish rider Henry Hansen took

\r?\n> gold in the

\r?\n> Olympics in Amsterdam 1928 and won the World championship

\r?\n> in Copenhagen

\r?\n> 1931 on a Crescent bike.

\r?\n>

\r?\n>

\r?\n>

\r?\n> I also put up a picture of a Monark I have from around 1955

\r?\n> on the site.

\r?\n> Crescent, located in the east of Sweden, and Monark,

\r?\n> located in the west

\r?\n> of Sweden, was the biggest brands and fierce competitors up

\r?\n> to 1961 when

\r?\n> the two brands become one company- MCB.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Today are the brands only small parts in the Swedish

\r?\n> bicycle king

\r?\n> Salvatori Grimaldi´s bike empire Cycleurope, He also owns

\r?\n> the

\r?\n> following bicycle brands: Bianchi, Gitane, Micmo, Puch,

\r?\n> Legnano,

\r?\n> Peugeot, DBS, Kildemoes, Everton, Chiorda, Renault and

\r?\n> Spectra.....
