Subject: [CR]Help Installing Berthoud bags

Recently received a beautiful pair of Berthoud bags from Peter White.  Th ey do not have any mounting instructions, and I have a question or two.  Here is a photo of the rear of the bag from the Wallingford website:

http://www.wallbike.com/berthoud/panniers.html

The Wallingford text says:

"There are two hooks that attach to the top rail of the rack and centered b etween them is a spring clip that latches the bag on positively."

In the photo, I don't see anything between the two hooks, nor do my bags ha ve any fittings other than those shown on the Wallingford fitting.  Am  I missing a piece, or are they just referring to springs built into the hoo ks?  I find that the Berthoud hooks do not lock as securely as the Carrad ice fittings onto my chromed steel Wald rack, but the the Wald rack rails are somewhat smaller diameter than some aluminum or tubular steel rac ks.  Do I need some sort of shim to make the Berthoud clip more securely?

Also note the Berthoud has two hooks per bag which engage the rack struts lower down, whereas Carradice only has one.  The use of two hooks probab ly positions the bag more positively, but it appears to me it will make it very difficult to quickly install and remove without tools.  Does any use only one hook or configure two differently to make the Berthoud bags easie r to mount and remove?
