Hi all, many thanx for all the replies. A few comments to add, yes having a reverse thread is good for saftey. Yes the flange widths do have an infuence on a wheel, my Carlton has a large flange Zeus rear hub, I tried hard to get a Campagnolo one at the time to no avail, and when I had it all sorted out I was happier with the Zeus one, as the flanges are equal distance from the centreline, so I knew spoke tension would be eqaul, even thou the flange width was a little less than a Campagnolo one.

I've looked at a few pix and hubs, the thread on a road hub is less than a track hub, but the distance from shoulder to flange is less with a track hub, so at least that can be machined back a little. I've designed a jig to hold a road hub while being machined, but yet to put to paper and make, so busy at work, but I'll talk to my freind the engineer on monday when I pick up my hubs from him, he maybe able to help there.

I'm quite sure I'll get it all to work, I have a 40H rear road hub, thou I already have 2x 40H rear track hubs, do I really need another? Will need to check the garage and see if I can dig up another.

I also thought about filling the oil hole with a alloy threaded plug and filing down, after polishing one would never notice, cant say seeing a hub on the velodrome with the flickering oil clip does it for me, nothing like a bald barrel, is all the effort worth it? Well I guess the end result will tell.

Will be interesting to tell wether the flanges will be equally spaced like my Zeus hub when its all finished, I'm unsure wether there is any difference on road hub flange spacing as there is with 110 and 120mm spaced track hubs, I've never had to compare hub shells between 120 and 126mm hubs, I'm sure its all in the axle length and spacers.......regards wayne davidson Invers NZ...........
