Subject: [CR] Italian orphans, restoration of the 'lesser knowns but no lesser built'

Greetings from Spokane, Washington!

I've been bowsing the 'other' category of various frame marques on ebays ab out the globe and have come upon a couple makers that have piqued my intere st. It appears they have a great predigree, albeit not as well known as o thers, but the construction is on a par with the highest end.

The one that caught my eye that is still in business is 'Viner'. A very int eresing and distinguished maker since 1947 with many notable riders. Do any one of you have this marque and how do they ride?

Another brand that has finally brought me to Bologna, Italy and the busin ess listing (with a series of 2 bad email addresses) is Patelli. gorgeous l ugwork, obvious massaging thoughout all the lugs and dropouts, as well as a 'reverse cut' on the chainstays to the dropouts. Very nice stuff, as well as the dropouts appearing to have had extensive 'cleanup' almost look ing machined instead of cast. The problem is, it needs a fork. I don't mi nd finding a needle in a haystack, but if they didn't make any extra need les, I'm in a jam.

Do any of you here have any information or parts for either? Thanks!
