I have what I think is an Ideal 39 leather saddle. It seems nice, and I would like to use it, but the rails are too thin for a standard seat-post.
Has anyone tried putting shims around the rail (ie, cut beer can or similar) to get such a saddle to work with a standard seatpost? Are the rails strong enough to hold up?
Does anyone know when these saddles were used, and what kind of post they were meant to work with?
