Beborex brakes were also available with a wheel rolling on a flat, in addition to the lever/slot arrangement depicted in your photos. I have both versions and I can't tell much difference in operation on the road. You can see the wheeled version of Beborex brakes on this Peugeot on Bikeville's website: http://www.bikeville.com/peugeot.html The wheeled Beborex brakes are illustrated and their design described on a full page in Ron Kitching's "Everything Cycling" catalogues from 1955, 1960, and 1963 (available from Chuck Schmidt via his Velo Retro website).

Can anybody provide more information on the history and design of the Beborex brakes?
