Welcome to the CR list! That is a very interesting story about your Raleigh. I have a similar one in gold with a serial number of WG9003209 (close to yours!). Mine was sold by a bike shop here on Long Island in New York and I assume was a frameset built up with possibly current Suntour Cyclone stuff. I bought it used a few years ago and really like how it rides. I have refitted it with Campagnolo NR.
I too have never seen another like it (until now!).
