Subject: [CR]Changing axles on sealed bearing hubs.

I'm looking to change axles on some sealed bearing hubs. Can anyone advise me on how difficult this is to do? Are there any generic replacement axles available as with loose bearing hubs, or are does one pretty much have to obtain an axle of the same brand and similar model? How does one usually go about removing the axle? Are special tools required?
