I sold two new Colnago Equilaterals through my shop, back in the mid 1980s, and they did not come from or via Celo Europa nor Marcel Calborn...?

I owned one of these that I bought directly from Marcel Calborn in the early 90s. I recall him telling me that Colnago built the Equilateral exclusively for him, per his design specifications. Supposedly all the Equilaterals produced came to Marcel (in California), and there were only around 200 units produced.
As an aside, the red Equilateral that Matty Gorski has is one that sort of got away from me. About four to five years ago I was brand new to eBay and one of my first ever attempts to place a last minute bid was on this Equilateral...I bungled it and placed my bid too late, and Matty won it. My first eBay aaargh! moment :)

"Hi Kevin,
My understanding is as yours; one year 1984.? There are very few of them in the USA.? Dale Brown has a white one hanging in his shop, Matty Gorski has a red one and I have a silver one.
I once asked Steven Maasland about the bike and he told me Ernesto hated the design and he only built it as a style exercise.
I think there are fewer than 125 Master Eq's in the USA.

FWIW, here's the link to?a Celo Europa catalog in the bulgier archives in which the Master EQ appears:

The pricelist according to the archives dates from 1985. It listed as "per Marcel Calborn (Equilateral)," almost as if the implication is that idea for the design was Calborn's. Also, note the price difference between that model and the other Colnagos listed (including the Arabesque).
