Subject: [CR]Bicycles and Components for Sale - Delivery to T-Town

It seems like there are lots of interesting bikes coming out of the woodwork and headed for T-Town this Saturday. Should make for a very interesting day. I too will be bring a number of very interesting bikes and parts, and want to offer those things here prior to the weekend. There are lots and lots of pictures in the Wool Jersey album link below. Please take some time to check these things out. I'm keeping description details to a minimum here, but lots more detail is included with the pix.

I would prefer to deliver things to T-Town, particularly the complete bikes, to save on shipping cost, potential damage, and the overall hassle of packing and shipping bikes. In fact, even if I have confirmed commitment, nothing will be shipped until after this weekend, because I simply don't have the time. If you have an interest in something, but are not coming to the swap, maybe someone near you is coming and might be willing to offer the goods a ride in your direction. Let's make this a community effort.

I'm kind of behind the curve in getting this posted, because I've had so much to photograph and create albums for. I actually have much more than what's posted here, so a lot of things will not be available until the swap. A lot of what I have consists of rare, unusual and/or one-of-a-kind items. I have recently had some unprecedented access to the Mel Pinto Imports warehouse, and have quite a number of things that I'm offering from Mel Pinto himself, including a very special bike. Not everything listed here is from MPI, of course, but a lot of items both posted here and being brought to T-Town are. I will even make one more trip to the warehouse before the weekend, so who knows what might show up.

Prices listed are not negotiable prior to the swap. Shipping, if it comes to that, is extra and at cost.

There is one bike in the main WJ album that is off topic, but a very significant and collectible bike. Please avert your eyes if it offends your sensibilities. Everything else is very much on topic, but some KOF frames are outfitted with modern components. More stuff will be added in the next few days, so you might want to check back, but I'll try to notify the list about updates before the weekend.

The main For Sale album is at the following link. Pictures and details for the below items can be found here:

Following is a partial list:

Davidson Impluse. 55x55 cm (center-to-center). Complete bike with Dura Ace 7402 STI 8 speed group. Very nice lugged steel Davidson, likely built in late 80's or early 90's, in excellent, very low mileage condition. An exceptionally well built and finely finished frame, hand-built by Bill Davidson in Seattle Washington. Extremely nice, very gradual stark white to hard yellow, top-to-bottom fade paint. If you liked the details on the frame that Bob posted recently, you can find many of those here too. $1600

Paramount 50th Anniversary. 1987. 55x55 (center-to-center). Complete bike with Shimano 600 6400/6401 STI 8 speed group. Very nice lugged steel Waterford-built Columbus SLX frame #87046, in excellent, very low mileage condition. There are a very few, very minor nicks or scratches in the paint that have been touched-up, the rest don't even show up in pix. Signature black metallic paint. This frame does NOT have the special edition gold-plated fork. This is a used bike and the components mounted show some wear, but are generally in very good condition. $1400

Mel Pinto Special Alan Record. 54x54 cm (center-to-center). This is really a one-of-a-kind special. This is Mel Pinto's personal bike. He claims to have ridden it twice. It is an Alan Record, that was re-badged as a Pinto, something that was started by Mel Pinto Imports many, many years ago. (My first "quality" bike was a Urago re-badged as a Pinto back in 1974 or '75.) In typical Mel Pinto fashion, this frame is outfitted with an eclectic mix of components, particularly a lot of French stuff. It has a triple crankset and very wide-range gearing. TA, Simplex, Atax, Maillard, Ideale, Mafac, Campy. Go to the album for all the details. This bike is exactly as the it came out of the MPI warehouse. I have done nothing to it except put air in the tires. $1650

Custom Cuevas Special. Unknown year model, but most likely '77 or '78. 43cm x 52cm (center-center). Reynolds SL tubes. Another treasure from the MPI warehouse. Vary nice frame details. Gloss black with gold lug lining and window fill. Built with a complete Campagnolo Record/Nuovo Record group. This frame was supposedly built for a small woman, and uses a sloping top tube design to achieve it's 43cm seat tube. It is indeed a very small frame, suitable for a small or young person. Very rare, interesting and unusual bike. $1400

Serotta Club Special. 1983 (estimated by both me and Serotta). 58cm x 57cm (center-to-center). Very nice early Serotta, built with Columbus SL. Deep red with yellow decals and detailing. Very nicely finished lugs and "card suit" fork tangs. Outfitted with mostly Campagnolo Super Record components and a Cinelli bar and stem. Ambrosio Montreal Durex 36 hole tubular rims with Advent D'Alessandro tires mounted. This bike has seen a fair amount of use, but overall is in very good to excellent condition. It would make a great rider, but could easily be made show worthy. A very nice American built frame, and a great complete bicycle. I'd love to keep it, but just can't. $1500

Colnago Modolo Brakeset More MPI treasure. Modolo Brakeset made for Colnago. New, never mounted. Caliper arms read "Colnago Ernesto", and levers have the Colnago club above the word "Colnago". The original installed Modolo hoods are soft and supple, but have slight color variations. They are perfectly usable and suitable for most applications. However, a perfect new pair of hoods is also included just in case these are destined for a show bike (which they should be!). The caliper bolts are threaded and nutted for non-recessed mounting, but included are recessed mount nuts so that the bolts can be cut down for that application if desired. This brakeset is rare enough, but almost impossible to find as new-old-stock. $325

Rossin VIP Bar/Stem/Levers Rossin VIP bar set. Another gem from the MPI warehouse. This is a new, very rare, complete Rossin stem, bar and lever set. Black anodized, Rossin pantographed oval-logo Cinelli 1R 120mm stem. Old, shield-logo Giro d'Italia bars with Almarc stitched-suede cover. With the leather cover, these bars measure 43cm to outside, shich I guess makes them 42 by Cinelli standard. Very hard to find old-log bars in this size! Installed Campagnolo Record milled and Rossin pantographed levers, with perfect, soft globe-logo hoods. There is very slight shop-wear on one end of the bar cover where it was exposed. If you have a Campy equipped Rossin, this set-up is a real find, with serious show potential. $300

Stronglight Titanium Botton Bracket Stronglight Italian threaded, titanium axle 118 BB. Complete NOS/NIP. Very hard to find. $120

Galli Bottom Bracket Galli Roller Bearing, Italian threaded 114 BB. Complete NON/NIB. Very rare. $85

JPR Headsets Very rare French threaded oversized headset for tandem forks (28x100). Silver anodized. Complete NOS/NIB, including top nut wrench and instruction sheet (in French, of course). Two rare French threaded standard sized headsets (25x100). One Silver anodized and one Black anodized. Each complete NOS/NIB, including top nut wrench and instruction sheet (in French, of course). $60 each.

EDCO Competition Headsets High quality Swiss headsets. English threaded. Each complete NOS/NIB. One silver anodized and one black anodized. These are some of the nicest headsets ever made. I'm really tempted to keep these for myself! $70 each

I've just lost access to the Wool Jersey site. Hopefully it wil be back shortly. I'll stop here for now. If you have questions, please ask. Rest assured that I will have quite a number of really cool things at T-Town this weekend, and will hopefully have more stuff posted beforehand. Stay tuned.
