Am winding down after 5 fabulous days in Tuscany. Over 3200 riders participated in the rides this year. Everyone I met was in excellent spirits.
Me and the Mrs. prepared for the short course by riding from winery to winery on the days leading to the ride. Most vintners were very hospitable even when we came in dripping wet.
The wineries were all on the top of hills, so we didn't have to work hard after drinking a bit. My Carradice sadllebag held the bottles quite safely all the way back to the hotel.
On the ride we rode very slowly and had the pleasure of seeing many, many classic bikes ... mostly Italian and mostly from the 70's but with a sprinkling of other vintages and origins. Imagine hundreds upon hundreds of riders wearing wool jerseys and out for a good time ... no-one was in a hurry to finish.
I can't recommend this event highly enough.
