Subject: [CR]Chroming Quandry: To do or not to do.

I have been 'friends' as of late with my local chromer.  I think he seems me coming.  There are two in town and his price beats the other guy.  he has been receiving my business. So whats the problem?    I have  had a small pile of Campagnolo steel (chromed) brake pad hold ers that sat around because they were just plain ugly.  Meaning they were rusted to some degree or other. Some the pits, some the shi-s.  I have a lways watched eBay for additional pad holders or trashed calipers with good holders.  A set of 4 goes for over $40.00 every time. Given that, I was offered by him to have chrome stripped 16 holders, and $5.00 each to rechro me them all.  Thats a total of about $85.00 if you leave off the Governor . That is $85 for four sets, vs $80.00 buying them off eBay.  Simple econ omics says 'go for it.'   The question I have would be what kind of finish would you expect to ha ve on formerly pitted pad holders.  Would I have a good lettering read on the logos?  Any experience out there?    BT
