To my knowledge Racer was a brand name of CLB for their Mafac Clone Brakes. They marketed a self energizing brakesystem in the 70ies and 80ies similiar to the Pedersen Cantibrakes. So I guess these brakepads belong to these CLB CP-brakes. Best regards

Came across two sets of brake pads. One set is non-threaded post pads for canti's and a second set of center/sidepull pads. They are marked "Racer" in the style logo that CLB used for their versions of Racer brakes.

Here is the quirk. The pad holders are spring loaded so when the pad hits the rim, the force caused by contact is absorbed by the pads. Minimzing flex. BTW, I'm guessing about all this, but it make sense.

Anyhow, but shoes have "racer" on the back, plus "avant" (front) with an arrow. Also "made in france" and "brevete". No other model markings. Has anyone ever seen these? Any idea what their story is? Age? Curious little shoes that I am tempted to try out.. Here is a horrible webcam pic (sorry, digital is at work):

Thanks in advance.
