I'm building up a set of wheels to go on the "Andy Hamel" I got from Eddie Albert. Old-style 3-piece Campy hubs, HF with the big swiss cheese flange holes. Happiness was finding some NOS 15/17 spokes (1.8 mm thread ends) to go with them. But all I could find were 2.0 mm. nipples in my new stuff. Finally found some 1.8s (and a box of new ones), but also found some short nipples that were about the same diameter as the 1.8, but a very different threading. Sutherland (4th) reminds us that French spokes are about 63.5 TPI vs. 56 TPI for everything else in the world. Viva la difference! (???). Who knows, maybe there are some Robergel refugees hiding somewhere in my basement shop?
