One of the final remaining bits needed to get my recently acquired '71 Coln
ago Super on the road is an appropriate Nuovo Record bottom bracket.
To the best of my knowledge, I ought to be on the lookout for a 70-SS-120
spindle. Can anyone tell me if it is critical that I find one from roughl
y the same era that the bike was produced? Were there changes made to the s
pindle length in later years of production? Will I run into problems if,
say, I put an 80's NR spindle in? Because this bike will most certainly
be a "rider", for this incarnation it doesn't need to be a perfect "peri
od piece", as I am just trying to get the bike running. It currently has
some later braze-ons and newer paint. But not to worry...I will eventuall
y have her restored to circa '71 glory...time (well, money) permitting.
Lastly, once the "proper" spindle is identified, I will be on the looko
ut for either an entire BB or perhaps just the spindle. Please let me know
if you have something decent (but not NOS) available.
Thanks,
