The seller of this bike asked me to out it to our list. He is a college student, with limited resources, but he's been very forthcoming with inform ation to feed my ever increasing Torpado/Italvega files. He was mis-directed by people at BikeForums.net into believing it is a Superlight (SL) model, when in fact it is a Super Record (SR) ... the next structural model down in the line-up. The SR frame doesn't have all the diamond shaped lug cut outs or large under b.b. reliefs, but instead has some nicer chrome work and the sweet sloping Cinelli fork crown, also chromed, where the SL has very little chro me, and an almost flat top crown similar to or the same as Colnago Supers of th e time. I happen to have a Coffee colored SR frameset here, in the same size , and it is surprisingly light. Several people on the CR list have expressed

interest in finding an SL in this large size, so perhaps because of scarcit y, this would be a nice compromise for someone.

Most of the SR frames I've seen were finished in the famous, or infamous Coffee Brown, but this one is a lovely silver, very similar to a couple of SL frames I've seen. The c.1976 Italvega catalog at Bulgier.net lists Transpa rent Blue, or Coffee as the options for the SR, so the one on Ebay is seemingly from a different year. I think it is one of the last ones made, perhaps in

1977, but that is going by the serial number that begins with numeral 7, an d I still do not have certainty of their meaning ... so take that with a big grain of salt.

Anyway, there is only one photo posted (and I have an additional photo of the serial number under the b.b.) but I'm sure he would supply more if aske d. The bike looks to be equipped with a full Campagnolo Nuovo Record gruppo, b ut his price might be a tad high in this economic climate, and I promised to notify the list regardless. He is offering free shipping, however, which helps. At the time I'm writing this, he has yet to revise his description which still calls it an SL, but to me it is clearly an SR.

Have I bored you all enough with my talk of Italvegas? Perhaps, but I neve r grow tired of it. I guess that is what makes me an enthusiast. Where else

shall I share what I've learned, but with my beloved CR List?
