I had always thought 26.4 up until the 90s as well. My 80s new logo bars a
re 26.2 for a stem of 26.4 which makes sense because if they were both 26.4
you'd have to spread the stem to install the bars. I read the Cinelli tim
eline page on the net and they mention a time in the 60s of 26.0 but they m
ake is sound like those bars would not have been anodized. I suspect that
is what I have because there would be a .2mm differential between bars and
stem for installation.From: LouDeeter@aol.comDate: Sat, 1 Nov 2008 07:09:

manfredhegwer@hotmail.comWhile I've never measured one with a micrometer,
26.4 was the advertised diameter for the old bars and for the 1R stem. I
would think something is wrong with the one under 26 and I wouldn't use it
with the 1R. It would probably be okay with a 26.0 stem though.*********
