So you want to make the bike appear "off topic"?

I remember back in the eighties when these "cable-less" brakes appeared. We old timers would always poke fun at folks riding those bikes on club rides about having no cables.

As for drilling the handlebars, that could be a bit risky. Usually the cables were just covered with tape or else the bars had channels pressed into them for that purpose.
