Personally, I'm still pretty happy with Fedex. The price to ship a TREK 510 about 1003 miles to my niece ($35) is about the same as it's been for the past 8 years. The tracking feature is awesome. The only thing that has changed is that I am limited in distance (that price is for less than about 1500 miles of shipping; if I ship 2000+ miles the price will increase to $55).

Given the recent doubling in gasoline prices, I think that Fedex has done a pretty good job of holding down the costs of shipping a bike. I did get some grief over dimensional weight at one service counter, but I simply stopped patronizing that facility, and I always make certain to measure the bike as I'm packing it, and give the sales clerk the SKINNY end of the box just to be on the safe side ...

P.S. It's sad that US Postal prices have doubled sometime in the past year, however, to about $75 to ship the same bike the same distance, and no dimensional thresholds in sight to lower the price.
