For whatever it is worth, Minneapolis has an interesting bicycle-coffee-sandwich shop in the downtown area, called One on One. If you enter via the front door, not being a backdoor man myself, you are immediately in the coffee-sandwich section, though hung on the walls around that section are bicycles of various vintage, including new Surlys, but lots of interesting bikes. In the middle section is a display of vintage bicycles, which often display Scott Davis' bikes. Over the past, I have seen a couple of beautiful early Masi's. The back area is for repair but has a display case of vintage parts that they are selling. The real treat is the basement, filled with bikes for sale, perhaps a couple hundred. Among them I have seen a couple of Chris Kvale's bikes. I assume the bikes in the basement are on consignment.
Going there around lunch time, parked outside you will find a number of spray-painted messenger bikes that belie their heritage.
Minneapolis does love its bicycle stuff, although the weather there makes for hearty winter riding.
Cheers.
