Not even faintly the case. Campagnolo had nothing to do with those bolts/nuts. Listen to Ted, no one has more savvy & expertise...

Ted Ernst, w/ much experience, ?argues that the ornate "C" which appea
red on Whitworth dimensioned seatpost bolts on many Raleighs as well as axl
e nuts for [non-Campy] bolt on hubs [Sturmey-Archer high flange on Raleigh
Records?] stood for Carlton. My 1972 lilac Competition came w/ such a seatp
ost bolt and i assumed, at the time, that it stood for Carlton. But i was s
ubsequently informed by a shop owner that it was Campagnolo, and was a way
of putting one piece of Campy on a bike. Typically SuperCourses and a bit a
bove. The "C" is excactly the same as on?the derailleur bolts on Campy
Gran Turismos and Veloxes.? Here's what i think and would love to be
corrected by someone who actually knows: The bolts and nuts were made by Ca
mpy exclusively for Raleigh/Carlton in Whitworth dimensions. The fact that
the "C" is ambiguous, standing for either Carlton or Campy is a happy coinc
idence. It'd be interesting to know if these were spec'd for Carlton before
the Raleigh buyout or after. We know Campy made a dedicated seatpost for t
he narrow railed Brooks saddles, so they obviously had som dealings w/ the
Brits. Enlightenment is desired!? Billy Ketchum; Chicago, IL; USA.
