I say "amen". You probably saw my email about this. I rarely see shops doing a packing job that would meet the standards of our list members. If they do, it will be expensive - AT LEAST the $60 Peter Naiman mentioned. But that's in addition to the shipping costs. Which means the minimum total shipping cost will be something like $120, at the very least.
The strange thing is that, in my experience, I simply could not convince the shops to do a better job, even though I offered to pay more for the extra time and materials involved.
It's only just the other day that I _finally_ saw a shop do a really superlative job on a bare frame. This was at Conte's in Arlington, Virginia, and they were sending a frame to England.
