Well, first of all, I have a personal message for the man calling himself P aul W. who keeps sending me dud links leading to purported dirty pics, pres umably because he can never access my webpage owing to he maybe has dialup or something : the url's I give are valid except for line breaks which requ ire a bit of work, and I agree that my host has slow moments, but the stuff is there if you can wait, whereas this promised promising content from Mr W. is not there however long you wait.
Now, down to business. Battery operated lights are all the fad now because of no added friction (a traditional tire-rub dynamo does slow one down quit e a bit, and the weaker the rider you are, the more you suffer because the load is the same for all riders at a given speed, and if you are putting ou t low leg wattage, the proportion of that energy required to spin the dynam o is higher: I suffer a load). So, my theory is that as soon as they were a vailable, battery operated lights were used by fast cyclotourers and even r acers, to gain an edge.
The very early ones I never see complete, just rusted shells, dented, broke n glass, bulb holder missing, and never with attachment gear.
