I use MEK, Methyl Ethyel Ketone on a rag and do a rub. MEK will not diso lve the original finish (unless its lacquer) and does a good job of cleanin g. However dont try the whole frame because it can 'flatten the finish' and have to be rubbed up with a polishing compound. BT

I'd use rubbing compound on a Q-tip swab, and lots of patience.
